BASIC SKETCHUP 3D CROSS
I designed my circulation cross with the intent on encouraging circulation and movement throughout the site. As evident, each arm of the cross represents a graduated level which guides the pedestrian throughout the structure without obstructing the views from the ground.
3D CROSS WITHIN SITE
The bridge I aim to design connects the squarehouse, the roundhouse, the MCIC, the Hilmer building and the law building. As this bridge is designed for both the school of engineering and the school of built environment, I saw that it was necessary to connect the squarehouse to the MCIC to facilitate interactions between the creative spaces within the squarehouse and the innovative, high tech facilities of the MCIC. Additionally, I saw great potential in connecting the study spaces within my proposed structure to the study spaces within the Hilmer building and the law library. Keeping in mind that this building was designed for uni students, I endeavoured to incorporate a social element within the structure by connecting the building to the roundhouse, a place for catching up over lunch or unwinding after class.
VIEW FROM THE STREET
It's important to me how the building is percieved from the light rail stop at ANZAC parade. This viewing angle will inform my construction of the bridge's 'facade'. From this angle, I'd aim to capture the attention of pedestrians.
